Rubio's Restaurant Fundraiser

The only thing better than a good cause? A good cause with a side of fish tacos! Present the Rubio's fundraiser flyer to the cashier when you dine in, take food to go, or pick up a Catering order on July 3, and Rubio's will donate 20% to the PHS Music Boosters.

Spirit of the Fourth 2018 Parade

All Band and Color Guard students are invited to perform in the Rancho Bernardo Spirit of the Fourth 2019 Parade, including incoming Freshman and Alumni. The rehearsal and performance schedule is below:

  • Tuesday 7/2, 5:00-7:00 p.m. - Rehearsal at Poway HS, meet in N-1
  • Wednesday 7/3, 5:00-7:00 p.m. - Rehearsal at Poway HS, meet in N-1
  • Thursday 7/4, Call Time 2:00 p.m., Parade Start Time 3:30 p.m. - Meet in the parking lot in front of the RB Postal Service Office (behind 7-Eleven), 16767 Bernardo Center Dr.map

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ: All students participating in the RB 4th of July Parade must complete Form A and Form B (if applicable) before they may participate in the parade. Please download, complete, print, and sign the forms below. A hardcopy of all forms can be turned in at the parade rehearsals.

REHEARSAL DRESS: For rehearsals, wear athletic shorts, T-shirt, and sneakers. No flip-flops, sandals, or jeans. Be sure to bring your marching instrument and water.

PARADE DRESS: Marchers MUST wear a white Emerald Brigade polo shirt (AKA travel shirt), solid black shorts, white socks, and white sneakers. EB polo shirts will be available for sale by N-1 at the beginning (NOT end) of both rehearsals. The cost is $25. Checks should be made payable to "PHSMB".

Chaperones will be accompanying students on the parade route, providing water as needed.

Traffic will be restricted on Bernardo Center Drive and parking will be a challenge. Plan to arrive early. Carpooling is encouraged. Parking may be available in the RB Town Center parking lot near Vons (11986 Bernardo Plaza Drive).

Poway 4th of July Fireworks Celebration

Gates Open at 6:00 p.m., Fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

$5 per person at the gate, children 11 and under are free

Cap off your 4th with an "awesome" fireworks display! At this annual event, the PHS Music Boosters are given the opportunity to earn valuable fundraising dollars (around $6,000!) in partnership with the Community Services Department of the City of Poway. A portion of the entrance fee will go to PHSMB.

We need adults volunteers to assist the fire department in securing the fireworks staging perimeter. Please sign up for this easy job - all you need to do is find a buddy and sit back in your beach chair for 2.5 hours and watch over the perimeter to make sure no one goes in the fall-out zone. If we don't get 24 people to sign up for security we lose this fundraiser altogether.

Bertrand's Music Fundraiser

July 6, July 8-12, 2019

This fundraiser is fun for the whole family - ALL band and orchestra families are invited to participate! Bertrand's Music will pay PHSMB $6 for every instrument that we clean and check for adjustments. This could be worth thousands of dollars!!! The event will be held at the Bertrand's Music Repair Center at 1566 Cherokee Road, San Marcos (NOT at the Poway location).

Last year student and parent volunteers made over $4,000 cleaning and testing hundreds and hundreds of instruments! We can do it again this year!

We need 5 students and 2 adults for three two-hour shifts each day on July 6 and July 8 through 12. Bertrand's will train us to become experts in cleaning and evaluating woodwind instruments, AND testing violins. ANYONE can sign up, including brass, string, percussion, and non-musicians! Orchestra students - violin cleaning and testing are on Wednesday, July 10, but you can sign up for any day.

Attendance at the Emerald Brigade Band Camp is required for all marching band students. During this week, students are introduced to the field show that will be featured at halftime during home football games and performed at tournament competitions.

The traditional Family & Friends Concert will be held on the evening of Friday, August 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the N-Quad to close out Band Camp week. Everyone is invited. Be sure to bring a lawn chair and some snacks!

What should you bring to Band Camp? Here are some recommendations, but be sure to check with your Section Leader:

  • Sun block - bring plenty and plan to re-apply often during the day
  • Sun hat with good coverage (see the expert campers below)
  • Sneakers (NO sandals or flip-flops)
  • Lots of water - one gallon in an insulated drink container isn't too much!
  • NO soda, but Gatorade is great
  • Lunch and nutritious snacks
  • 3-ring binder for music and a pencil
  • Dot book (ask your Section Leader where to get one)
  • Your instrument!

Band Camp Family & Friends Concert

Friday, August 16, 6:00 p.m.

PHS N-Quad

The traditional Family & Friends Concert will be held on the evening of Friday, August 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the N-Quad to close out Band Camp week. Everyone is invited.

The Emerald Brigade will perform part of their field show music, and fire up the crowd with the PHS Fight Song. See how far they have come after one week of hard work! Be sure to bring your camp or beach chair and some drinks and snacks.

Performance attire will be the Emerald Brigade travel shirt (white polo), black shorts, white socks, and white athletic shoes.

White Emerald Brigade polo shirts (AKA travel shirts) will be available for sale before the concert. The cost is $25. Checks should be made payable to "PHSMB".
